Death or Liberty: Sydney Film Premiere
A special event to mark the anniversary of the Eureka Stockade, co-hosted by Sydney Labour History, NSW Fabians and Unions NSW.

Death or Liberty – the new feature length docu-drama that brings to life the forgotten histories of the rebels and radicals transported to Australia as political prisoners in the convict era. Directed by Steve Thomas, and based on historian Dr Tony Moore’s book of the same name. Death or Liberty is an international co-production by Tasmania’s Roar Film and Ireland’s Tile Films, featuring a folk punk soundtrack performed by Billy Bragg, Mick Thomas and Lisa O’Neil.
Death or Liberty will be launched by Peter Fitzsimons, Chair of the Australian Republican Movement, followed by a panel discussion with Steve Thomas, Tony Moore and Mick Thomas in conversation with historian Assoc. Prof Kirsten McKenzie.

Blue Mountains Labor Walk
Sydney Branch Member, Damian O’Connor is conducting a Blue Mountains Labor Walk with Labor Environment Action Network (LEAN)
Saturday 20 July 2013 9.30am – 4pm (full event)
Meet at Wentworth Falls Station
Former Minister for the Environment, Bob Debus will join the group and give a commentary. Blue Mountains National Park was opened by Premier Cahill in 1959 and expanded by later environment ministers Carr and Debus
The walk is in two parts (second part optional).
- 6km return walk to Wentworth Falls via Charles Darwin Walk. Then lunch in Wentworth Falls.
- Drive and then steep walk to Darks Cave. (Named for Dr Eric Dark). Those who come by public transport can hitch a ride with someone in the group.
